It’s a dirty job but…..

Posted by Dwayne Clark on 05 Sep 2013 / 0 Comment

The Life of an interior designer… Glam, suave, hip, genteel? Hardly! We happen to be in the middle of construction on two commercial projects right now, and let me tell you, “It ain’t pretty!”. What starts off as an exercise in spatial geometry and imaginative pursuits inevitably gets down to the nitty gritty. Demo, framing, sheetrock, tiling,  and a whole host of other saw dust inducing  dirty propositions. Don’t get me wrong, it is only through this process that we can truly appreciate the finished space… shiny, colorful, rich, and most of all clean! There is something satisfying about coming home everyday with sheetrock all over your pants, shoes, shirt, and hair. This is the aspect of the project that takes true communication skills. There isn’t a day at the site when we aren’t asked a 100 questions about how should this be, what direction do you want that? It is ultimately what we offer our clients. Sure, we give them a spectacular design that looks and functions beautifully (if I do say so myself ;-)), but what we do beyond that is manage the day to day headaches that a client should not have to deal with. Design is my job. Solving life’s little crises? Call it a bonus.
